Known Issues
The following known issues, or “errata,” apply to the 8.0 release. The issue tracking number is
provided in parentheses. Refer to this number when making inquiries to Technical Support.
There is a table of tracking numbers listed in ascending order, with the summary and
document section number, in
Issue Index on page 61.
Hardware, configuration, and hardware replacement
Running netconfig on eth1 breaks the eth0 configuration. After configuring eth1
with netconfig and then pinging the IP address or hostname of eth0, the ping fails. (TL-
6894, EAR 7914)
WORKAROUND: From the command line, manually deactivate eth0 (ifconfig down
eth0) and then activate eth0 (ifconfig up eth0).
Logins time out if DNS is used because non-existent DNS servers are listed in /
etc/resolv.conf. Ethernet addresses are set to DHCP by default on newly installed
systems. The Crossroads DNS servers may be erroneously left in the /etc/resolv.conf file.
This causes logins to hang for a long time while the Crossroads DNS servers time out.
(TL-6884)
Connection issues may occur when using 4Gb Fibre Channel cards. Connection
issues can occur when using the 4Gb Fibre Channel card directly connected to AS/400 on
v5r4. When it comes up as private loop, there are issues seeing the devices. Also, if the
host resets, VTS runs out of resources in the driver and the VTD is lost. Contact Support
if this issue occurs. (TL-6698, EAR 7772)
Logins time out if DNS is used because non-existent DNS servers are listed in /

systems. The Crossroads DNS servers may be erroneously left in the /etc/resolv.conf file.
This causes logins to hang for a long time while the Crossroads DNS servers time out.
(TL-6884)
WORKAROUND: Edit /etc/resolv.conf to change these to your servers or delete them.
Compression setting for tape drives is not altered from the default value after it
has powered on. Most tape drives default to compression on; VTS does not change this
setting, which may cause exports to fail. (TL-6564)
Bootup delayed without Ethernet configuration or connection. If the Ethernet is
not configured, or in some cases, if there is no Ethernet cable plugged into the appliance,
bootup may be delayed when bringing up the processes for the web interface. (TL-6552,
EAR 7648)
Ethernet link present when no Ethernet cable is connected. When configuring the
network, the netconfig tool sometimes shows a link is present when no Ethernet cable is
connected. This can be safely ignored. (TL-6817)
netconfig sequence may leave ethernet port down. An ethernet interface link
detected status may not be “yes” after using netconfig. (TL-5502)
WORKAROUND: Run “ifup ethN” (where N is the number of the interface) to bring the
link up.
