Virtual TapeServer 8.0 Release Notes
Known Issues | 24
hsm_enable set to YES by default, causing errors when mounting an empty
virtual tape. When you attempt to mount an empty virtual tape (no user data in the file,
only a label), errors indicating a TSM error occur though TSM is not configured. (TL-6881)
WORKAROUND: Set hsm_enable='NO' in the vts.conf file.
vtsa user cannot mount virtual tapes. The vtsa user is not able to execute mount
commands. (TL-6748)
WORKAROUND: Use the bill user instead.
Incorrect serial number of SCSI VTD is displayed in the System Tools menu
with V7iOS (V7R1). The serial number does not display correctly in the System Tools
menu with V7iOS (V7R1) when a SCSI VTD is used. (TL-6260)
Hosts cannot see VTDs because WWNN is used instead of WWPN. The WWNN is
used instead of the WWPN for VTDs. This results in the host not being able to see the
VTDs. (TL-6269)
WORKAROUND: Create the VTD first and then setup the Fibre Channel zoning.
SCSI bus resets do not clear reservations. When VTS receives a SCSI bus reset, it
should clear any existing VTD or VTL reservations. (TL-6096)
WORKAROUND: Restart TapeServer or reboot.
System locks up if debug log consumes disk space. With debug log set to verbose
and if you run out of disk space, VTS “locks” up. (TL-144)
WORKAROUND: Compress (ZIP) or delete the debug log.
Warning messages during boot are displayed. These messages are displayed on the
console every time VTS boots and are ignorable. (TL-5954)
/var/www/media/app/models/transfer_agent.rb :18 warning: already
initialized constant STATUS_FAILURE_EXCEPTION
/var/www/media/app/models/transfer_agent.rb :19 warning: already
initialized constant STATUS_FAILURE_SHUTDOWN
Kernel panic displayed on console. This issue can be caused when activity occurs on
the SCSI bus (such as an unmigrate) when TapeServer is restarted. (TL-6005)
Mode page response to compression is enabled by default. This setting is enabled
by default and static for each emulation. However, compression may be turned off in the
configuration file, but the SCSI response to the mode sense request indicates that
compression is on. (TL-4141)
Incorrect response from Ultrium 1 drive causes import and/or export to fail. A
physically connected HP Ultrium 1 drive fails to allow a rewind when the medium
removal is prevented by SCSI command. (TL-4035)
Ownership of files is changed if encryption software is run by root. If a program
that uses encryption software is run by the root account, ownership of critical files is
changed, which will prevent programs from running correctly under normal user
authority. The programs that must not be started as root include the following:
• ems_master.pl
• ems_mounts.pl
• ems_send.pl
