Virtual TapeServer 8.0 Release Notes

Known Issues | 27
Web interface not refreshed after capacity license is applied. After applying a
capacity license, the old interface remains displayed and links are missing if you do not
refresh the browser. (TL-6866)
WORKAROUND: Refresh the browser.
Web interface shows login inconsistently. Some pages show that the user is logged in
and others show the user as logged out. Others show the user as logged in but you can not
get to the page actions, such as downgrading from the System Updates page. (TL-6854)
WORKAROUND: Log out then log back in and page actions are restored.
Encryption options can be checked when there is no encryption license set. The
Encryption checkboxes on the Edit System Settings and Create/Edit job dialogs work
inconsistently. If there is no license installed, it can be enabled in the Manage Settings
page but it is disabled on the job edit/creation dialogs. (TL-6773)
Information is not updated on the View Sg-Map Information page. The sg_map
information is not updated to reflect changes unless TapeServer is restarted. (TL-4163,
EAR 6219)
Web interface erroneously enables you to eject a virtual tape from an VTD in a
VTL. From the Virtual Drives page, if you attempt to eject a virtual tape in a VTL, the
following errors are generated:
Tue Mar 8 09:58:02 2011: [vtape] Clearing device 2a000407
Tue Mar 8 09:58:02 2011: [server] TS_VTAPE_CLEAR: ERROR reserved and
NOT forced, - return error to vtape
Tue Mar 8 09:58:02 2011: [server] TS_VTAPE_CLEAR: ERROR Device not
found in routing table or not connected.
Tue Mar 8 09:58:02 2011: [vtape] Unrecognized device (btli)
specified: 2a000407
The last two messages are incorrect and you should not be allowed to eject the tape. (TL-
6310)
Cannot restart the web interface from the command line. If the service httpd
restart command does not work, a reboot is required to access the web interface. (TL-6104,
EAR 7250)
Web interface may fail to allow the virtual media removal from the virtual tape
drive. VTS supports the SCSI command to prevent a medium from being removed from a
tape drive. If removal is being prevented by the host server, the VTS web interface may
fail to allow the virtual media removal from the virtual tape drive. (TL-5063)
WORKAROUND: Use the host server to remove media instead of the web interface to
remove the media.
Editing a VTD without a license causes the VTD to be deleted. If the license is
removed and then you attempt to edit a VTD, the system deletes the VTD. (TL-3962)
Tape can be mounted in deleted VTD and the tape remains locked. If you delete a
VTD, VTS still allows you to mount a virtual tape in the deleted VTD. No data is lost but
the tape is locked. This occurs if multiple windows are used and actions are performed in
one window and affect the actions taken in the other. (TL-3156)
WORKAROUND: Remove the lock using the Mounts and Locks page.
Date and time shown for locked cartridges is incorrect. The timestamp used for the
date and time when a cartridge is locked is incorrect. (TL-2551, TL-3429)
