Virtual TapeServer 8.0 Release Notes
Known Issues | 34
Login button always displayed on Manage Virtual Tapes page. If you log in to the
web interface after accessing the Manage Virtual Tapes page, the Login button is
displayed until you navigate away from the page and then navigate back. (TL-4429)
External Data
No rescan available on External Data page. (TL-6604)
WORKAROUND: Use the browser's Clear Cache option to rescan the drive to read its
current tape information.
Filter by Pool drop-down list on the External Data page is disabled if a pool
with no replicated tapes is selected. If a pool has no replicated virtual tapes, the
Filter By Pool drop-down list is disabled if selected. Use this feature only when there are
virtual tapes to be displayed. (TL-6755)
WORKAROUND: Navigate away and then back to the External Data page.
External Data page should not list files if target system has the disabled source.
A replication source that has been disabled by target can still retrieve the list of replicated
files. Any attempt to restore files fails with message that source is not enabled for
replication. The source should not be able to retrieve replicated cartridge information if
not enabled. (TL-5924)
Selecting Back button on External Data page does not allow drop-down devices
to be selected directly. From the External Data page, selecting to view jobs and then
clicking back causes the drop-down to become non-functional, and the library cannot be
directly selected. The Please Select button must be selected first before you can then
reselect the library. (TL-5850)
External Data import job includes cleaning tapes. If a physical library has a
cleaning tape with the same barcode as a virtual tape, the tape can be selected for import.
The import of that cleaning tape will fail appropriately, but depending on job settings,
such as “Stop on Error” may terminate the rest of the import job. (TL-5998)
Manage Virtual Devices (Manage Connections)
Changing the port on a VTD after it has been created results in duplicate serial
numbers. (TL-6429)
WORKAROUND: Delete the VTD before changing ports, then recreate it on the correct
port.
Error “The bus, target and lun values are already in use” generated when trying
to create a VTD. Physical devices attached to a VTS automatically create virtual
devices. If the port to which a physical device was attached is switched to virtual mode,
the old physical devices remain represented on that port and pose a conflict for new
virtual devices. (TL-5960)
WORKAROUND: Remove old VTDs using the Manage Tape Connections page (click the
Advanced link at the bottom of the Manage Virtual Devices page).
VTDs not detected by AIX if more than 31 are created on single port. If more than
31 VTDs are created on a single port, AIX will only detect the first one. (TL-5179)
Writing to VTD fails if you attempt to create a VTD on same bus. If data is being
written to a VTD and you attempt to create a VTD on the same bus, writing fails with this
error: Cannot write: Input/output error (TL-4464)
