Virtual TapeServer 8.0 Release Notes

Known Issues | 36
Cannot create a VTL if LUNs 0, 1, and 2 are not free. If you try to create a VTL, it
will fail and indicate that there can only be one VTL per bus, though no other VTLs are
defined. LUN 0, 1, and 2 must be free. (TL-4063)
Cannot delete VTD in VTL. If you edit a VTL and reduce the drive count to remove a
VTD that is included in a VTL, an “Insufficient number of VTD licenses” message may be
displayed if you are at the maximum number of VTDs for your license and you cannot
delete the VTD. (TL-3982)
System Settings page
Settings for disconnected tape drives and libraries can be edited. Although a tape
drive or library may be shown as “disconnected” on the Manage Settings page, the
physical drive settings can be edited. Changes made to the device settings are saved
independent of the device's state. (TL-6388)
Edit System Settings page can timeout if the drives are busy or being used by
scheduled jobs. (TL-6376)
WORKAROUND: Wait until the jobs are completed and drives are not in use to view or
modify drive information.
Cannot delete devices that are offline. There is no means to delete devices that may
no longer be available or accessible on the System Settings page. (TL-5790, EAR 7548)
Reports
No destination given in Export Report. If an error occurs while connecting to a
remote host or device, the Export report will not indicate this though the export fails. (TL-
6312)
Access Control
Change Group option not available after adding new user and group. After
adding a new user and group, you must deselect the new user in the Users drop-down list
and then select it again to get the “Change Group” option to appear. (TL-3278)
Certain Access Control settings cause each update cycle to prompt for a
password. If Access Control for operations is set to one of the following, the web interface
prompts for a password three times every time a page refreshes: 'BASIC access', 'Vault
Access', 'Access to All Vaults', 'View System Status', 'Change Refresh Rate', 'Stop and
Start TapeServer'. The dialog can be cancelled (and works correctly), but it will prompt
again on the next update cycle. (TL-1920)
WORKAROUND: Lengthen the browser’s refresh cycle to minimize the impact of this
issue.
Cannot re-log in to the web interface using the Log In button. If you are logged in
as a non-administrative user, you must close the browser window and log in again as an
administrator. The Log In button on the interface will not log you in as another user. (TL-
1033)
User and group changes can be applied but not saved as part of the Custom
Defaults. On the Access Control page, you can save user and group settings by clicking
the Save as CUSTOM button but subsequent changes to the custom defaults cannot be
saved. (TL-377)
