Virtual TapeServer 8.0 Release Notes

Known Issues | 37
Must click Restore CUSTOM Defaults button twice to display the “Users and
Groups” and “Rights” sections of the page. When you click the Restore CUSTOM
Defaults button, the “Users and Groups” and “Rights” sections of the Access Control page
are not displayed. You must click the button again to display these sections and restore
the custom defaults. (TL-378)
Certificate Management
Revoking original certificate indicates “Certificate revoked” though it cannot
be. When attempting to revoke “Original Certificate”, the web interface says “Certificate
revoked.” However, the certificate is not revoked. The message should indicate that the
original self-signed certificate cannot be revoked. (TL-5951)
Select Usages checkbox on Edit Certificate form is confusing. This option
activates the certificate; it should be renamed. (TL-5677)
Importing invalid certificate displays error. Attempting to import an invalid
certificate displays the error “Nested asn1 error”. (TL-4822)
VTL
SCSI VTLs do not present the changer device on Power 7 AS/400 systems. They
work on Power 6 or i5 systems. Fibre Channel VTLs are seen on all the AS/400 systems
tested. (TL-6731)
Deleting a VTL when TapeServer is stopped does not clean its dependencies.
VTL files remain after it is deleted. (TL-6814)
WORKAROUND: Delete a VTL with the TapeServer active and enabled. If the VTL is
deleted when TapeServer is stopped, use the Advanced link on the Manage Virtual
Devices page to get to Manage Tape Connections page. From this page, the Manage
Library Connections page allows you to delete the individual parts of a VTL.
Incorrect serial numbers used for shared Fibre Channel VTLs. If a short serial
number is used when creating a VTL (less than 10 digits), the serial number may be
truncated and not displayed correctly. The tape type may also be affected. (TL-6263)
WORKAROUND: Use at least 10 digits when manually entering a serial number.
SCSI VTL shows incorrect serial number on console. The serial number is incorrect
for SCSI VTLs. However, the associated tape drives have the correct serial numbers but
not the correct changer. Also, the SCSI VTL functions properly. (TL-4439)
VTL can not be deleted if /VAULT becomes unavailable. (TL-5882)
WORKAROUND: Click Manage Virtual Devices > Advanced > Manage Virtual Library
Configurations > Edit virtual library magazines. Choose the library you wish to delete.
Click Update (with no virtual tape loaded).
Mounts and unmounts appear to succeed though file system is full and failure
code is returned. When the root (/) filesystem is full and a mount or unmount is issued
to the VTL from the initiator, the operation fails and a failure code is returned to the host,
though the web interface indicates that it is successful. (TL-4199)
