Backup management application support
 Restoring individual files from export that spanned files using CA ARCserve
fails. (TL-6517)
WORKAROUND: Restore the entire backup to obtain the single file.
 TSM running on a host system fails to label tapes when the VTDs are Ultrium.
Though the drives are detected and associated with the library, when it tries to load the
tapes for labeling, an error is displayed indicating it cannot label the volume. (TL-4670)
 Only 3580 drive emulation in VTLs supported when using TSM on a host system
and BackupExec. You cannot backup data using TSM or BackupExec unless 3580 drive
emulation is used for the VTL. (TL-4312, TL-5132)
AutoCopy, Instant DR, and Replication
 Replication fails when the target directory exists and replication has not been
run to the target. If the destination directory for replication already exists on the target
system when replication is configured, replication jobs to that target will fail after the
target is reinstalled. Contact Support for assistance with this issue. (TL-6712)
 Replication jobs fail to run if a source has been removed from a target
configuration. The error message will be similar to the following. (TL-6646)
"/DATA01/d00001-01-01-AS400/CMP178 : Received nil reply from location
request for '/DATA01/d00001-01-01-AS400/CMP178' "
 Replication recovery and delete jobs can be scheduled. Restore and Delete
Replicated Data jobs should not allow scheduling to insure data is not overwritten or
deleted unintentionally. (TL-6620)
WORKAROUND: Only schedule replication recovery and delete jobs to run immediately.
 Instant DR page should not default to the RSH method of communication. The
Instant DR job page provides an SSH checkbox (secure transfer). If this is not checked,
the IDR job defaults to RSH. However, the RSH service is disabled by default, so IDR jobs
using RSH will fail unless it is enabled, and Crossroads recommends against this for
security reasons. (TL-6417, EAR 7584)
 Instant DR job remains running when an SSH connection has not been
established to the target system. When initiating a Instant DR job and the SSH
connection has not yet been established between VTS servers, the job never ends and
stays in a “Running” state. (TL-6832)
 Communication with remote host fails if ICMP is blocked. Remote hosts used for
Data Encryption backups, remote export, Instant DR, and AutoCopy attempt to ping the
backup server name. If ICMP is blocked, adding the backup host fails even if SCP is
configured and functioning properly. (TL-4371, EAR 6359)
 Replicate job to missing or remounted data location gives vague error message.
If a data location is remounted to an alternate mount point or removed, the error message
from a replicate job that should use this location does not indicate the cause. Note that
after a data partition has been used, it is not supported to remove it nor to change its
mount point. (TL-5859)
