Virtual TapeServer 8.0 Release Notes
Known Issues | 53
Subject Line Prefix not used in email notifications. Though you can specify a
Subject Line Prefix when configuring SMTP settings for email notifications, the prefix is
not used. (TL-5137)
Clustering (GFS)
Cannot resolve the hostname in a GFS environment without a DNS server.
Currently, you cannot configure GFS to use a fully qualified domain name without the use
of DNS. (TL-6874)
Virtual tapes are unusable by other systems if one clustered system crashes.
Virtual tapes within a VTL are indicated by an attribute saved on the file system with the
virtual tape. The attribute is managed by the system that hosts the virtual tape library. If
that VTS hosting the VTL crashes and is never recovered, the attributes will remain on
the file system. This issue will likely only affect GFS customers. (TL-5742)
WORKAROUND: Remove the attribute from the command line to allow use of that
virtual tape.
Pool Maintenance page loads slowly in a GFS environment. When you display the
Pool Maintenance page in a GFS environment, the page gathers all of the file system
statistics using the df command. On a busy GFS system or cluster that is fencing, df
hangs. (TL-434)
Utilities, services, and logging
Logwatch files do not rotate. A logwatch log file is created every day to provide a
summary of specific items that it watches for in the other logs. Over time, a large number
of these files can accumulate that are no longer particularly useful. The files should be
removed as they get too old to save on disk space and reduce the size and time to handle
troubleshooting packages. (TL-6800)
WORKAROUND: Delete files in the /var/www/html/logwatch directory that are older
than 30 days as needed to free up disk space.
Error displayed in ks_backup.log file if encryption is not configured. When
encryption has not been configured, the following message may be repeated in the
ks_backup.log file:
ERROR: relation "ks_backup_hosts" does not exist
These messages are harmless and can be ignored. (TL-6708)
CLIM does not see more than 8 LUNs after changing the tape type. This occurs if
VTS is started after device discovery. (TL-6777)
WORKAROUND: Device discovery on the CLIM can be best accomplished by first
starting VTS, then connecting the CLIM. Done this way, devices should be discovered
correctly. Finally, the device may be mapped with the CLIM to the NonStop.
HP Sim System management Homepage is missing info on Dl185 G5. (TL-6191)
“Unknown cmd” errors displayed on boot. When reinstalling a system, the HP SIM
component causes these errors, which can be ignored. (TL-5971)
HP SIM fails to function properly with a DL185. HP SIM does not show several
items on the System Management Homepage. (TL-5246)
