that of the host that originally transferred the data to VTS, where it was stored as a virtual
tape. If you export a pool, you can only import the tape(s) back into VTS. Also, when exporting
a pool, only those virtual tapes that contain data are exported.
You can also use migration to automatically export tapes, through the use of VTSPolicy. If
migration is not enabled and configured, contact HP Global NonStop Solution Center (GNSC)
for support.
Exporting data to physical tape using the web interface
You can export the data on a virtual tape to a physical tape in an external tape drive using the
Virtual Media - Import/Export page. This is referred to as “tape-to-tape export”, and the data
remains in the host format.
Note You can perform this procedure if a VTD license is enabled on the server. Also,
exporting a pool is no longer supported.
Requires the Virtual Tape Import and Export, Vault Access, and Access to all Vaults
access rights
To export a virtual tape or pool
1. Click Configuration→Tapes and Pools on the navigation pane. The Configure Tapes
and Pools page is displayed.
2. Expand a pool in the pool column and select a virtual tape in the cartridge column.
