Resolved Issues and Enhancements
The following changes have been incorporated into the software since the 8.0 release.
Hardware, configuration, and hardware replacement
Running netconfig -m static two or more times corrupted /etc/hosts file. If the
netconfig command was run multiple time with the -m static option, the /etc/hosts file
could be corrupted on subsequent runs, which may have rendered functions inoperable.
This has been fixed. (TL-7418, EAR 8477)
free_space_status option was not available in 8.0 or 8.1. This option suppresses the
disk utilization status on the System Status page and eliminates the execution of the df
command to get the usage statistics. This option is available in 8.2. See the “Configuring
Web Interface Preferences” chapter of the Configuration Guide for details. (TL-7541, EAR
8768)
Logins timed out if DNS was used because non-existent DNS servers were listed
in /etc/resolv.conf. Ethernet addresses are set to DHCP by default on newly installed
systems. The Crossroads DNS servers may have been erroneously left in the /etc/
resolv.conf file. This caused logins to hang for a long time while the Crossroads DNS
servers timed out. This has been fixed. (TL-6884)
If a system had more than two network interfaces, netconfig incorrectly
brought those network interfaces online. This has been fixed and only interfaces
that are enabled are brought online. (TL-7082)
Buffered tape write option in configuration file was incorrectly named.
Introduced in 6.04.03 IR1, the buffered tape write documentation previously named the
configuration option engine_TapeBufferCmdDepth. This name was incorrect. Now, the
option is named engine_TapeWriteCmdDepth. (TL-7060)
Rebooting after port changes may have displayed “GET PORT NAME” errors on
console. This has been fixed. (TL-7277)
Disk tuning added in 6.04.05 introduced a large delay in some external storage
systems. The delays became so long that commands timed out and mounts took minutes.
This tuning feature is now disabled by default, and may be enabled with this entry in the
configuration file: tune_enable='YES'. This will enable tuning as it was in 6.04.05. (TL-
6931, EAR 7661, EAR 8021, EAR 7660)
Upgrade, downgrade, and reinstallation
Downgrade from 8.1 to 8.0 may have caused external SAS storage to fail. If a
system was upgraded to 8.1 and then downgraded back to 8.0, the SAS HBA's NVRAM
was misconfigured. This has been fixed. (TL-7431, EAR 8549)
QLA driver problem occurs after upgrading from 6.04.05 to 8.0 and then to 8.1.
After upgrading to 8.0 and then to 8.1, the web interface may not have displayed the
Virtual Devices page and Tapeserver failed to start after the upgrade. This has been fixed.
