Virtual TapeServer 8.2 Release Notes

Resolved Issues and Enhancements | 16
Removing virtual tape from VTL did not give a process indicator or success or
failure message. No process indicator was displayed and no failure message was
generated if a virtual tape could not be removed from the VTL. This has been fixed. (TL-
4325)
Deleting a VTL and viewing the Manage Virtual Tapes page displayed a Flash
notice. If a VTL was deleted and then the Manage Virtual Tapes page was accessed or
refreshed to display the library's cartridges, the stale page may have caused an error.
This has been fixed. (TL-6014)
VTL
VTL was showing as unavailable on some hosts due to FC Tape Error Recovery
being set on the HBA. This issue is now fixed. (TL-7475, EAR 8642)
Virtual tapes no longer created with VTL. When creating a VTL, the library is no
longer automatically populated with virtual tapes. Virtual tapes must be created and
inserted in another step. This is to support customers who have a separate naming
scheme for virtual tapes. (TL-7044, TL-7016)
Deleting a VTL when TapeServer was stopped did not clean its dependencies.
VTL files remained after the VTL was deleted. This has been fixed. (TL-6814)
Tape-to-Tape export
Tape-to-tape exports failed from Hosted Data page. Tape-to-ape export failed from
the Hosted Data page. Selecting a virtual tape and choosing one of the options from the
drop-down menu did not perform an action. When no drive or library was selected for
tape-to-tape export, an error was generated but after the library was selected for tape-to-
tape export, nothing happened. This has been fixed. (TL-7426)
Could not disable a tape-to-tape export job. This was not supported; now it is. (TL-
6851)
Remote export
Remote exports failed from Hosted Data page. Remote export failed from the Hosted
Data page. Selecting a virtual tape and choosing one of the options from the drop-down
menu did not perform an action. This has been fixed. (TL-7426)
Backup management application support
Only 3580 drive emulation in VTLs was supported when using TSM or
BackupExec on a host system. Previously, you could not backup data using TSM or
BackupExec unless 3580 drive emulation was used for the VTL because VTS did not
support the report density command. The report density command is now supported. Any
ultrium tape type may now be used. (TL-4312, TL-5132)
