Virtual TapeServer 8.2 Release Notes
Resolved Issues and Enhancements | 18
Data Encryption (SecureVTS)
Using UNIX system as Data Encryption remote host may have failed. When trying
to configure Data Encryption and setting up the remote backup host, the backup failed if a
Solaris host was used. Other UNIX systems may also have caused this failure. This has
been fixed. (TL-6889, EAR 7956)
EMS
Last EMS message was repeatedly processed during keep-alive. Previously, after a
keep-alive was issued, VTS tried to rerun the last mount or dismount that it had
processed. This has been fixed and no longer occurs. (TL-7296, EAR 8445)
Reports and alerts
Exceeding the capacity license did not send an e-mail alert. An email alert is sent
at 80% capacity and, now, an alert is sent when capacity is exceeded. The 80% alert is
sent once a day. After used capacity exceeds 100%, the email is sent hourly. (TL-6686)
SNMP and SMTP notifications
Send Test Email feature now provided for SMTP configuration. After configuring
SMTP settings, you can now test the settings. See the help for details. (TL-4937)
Undeliverable email address in Notification Email list prevented emails to the
rest of the list from being delivered. If there was an undeliverable email address in
the Notification Email list, all other emails below it were not get delivered. This has been
fixed. (TL-6629)
DATA partitions were not included in the capacity checks that generated
notification emails. Email was not sent when the DATA partitions were nearing full
capacity. Now, email is sent at 80% capacity. (TL-6856)
Clustering (GFS)
Locks were attempted to be removed by other servers in a GFS cluster. In a GFS
cluster, when a VTS appliance with a VTL starts up, VTS tried to remove all locks it
found. This included locks owned by the other servers in the cluster. While these locks
were not removed, they produced error messages which caused concern this may have
caused issues with other servers when it didn't. This no longer occurs. (TL-6879, EAR
7921)
GFS RPMs have been updated. GFS has been updated in this release for new and
upgraded installations. If the system is downgraded, the updated GFS RPMs will remain
on the system. If you must downgrade the GFS RPMs, contact Support for assistance.
