Virtual TapeServer 8.2 Release Notes
Resolved Issues and Enhancements | 19
Utilities and services
HP SIM displayed very little information. If the HP System Management Homepage
shows little information, it may be that the SNMP configuration or the hpasm
configuration is incorrect. The default configuration files may be found on the HPSIM
install CD, and may be used to replace those already installed on in /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf
and /etc/hpasmrc, respectively. (TL-7271)
HP SIM was not installed on the newly manufactured DL185 shipped with 8.0.
HP SIM was not installed because HP-iLO support was not provided on the DL185. This
has been fixed and HP SIM is now installed correctly on the newly manufactured DL185
hardware. Additionally, for DL185 systems shipped with 8.0, these systems can be
upgraded to 8.2 and HP SIM installed. The HP SIM version made available with the 8.2
upgrade should be used to install HP SIM on the DL185 systems. (TL-7090)
Logwatch files did not rotate. A logwatch log file is created every day to provide a
summary of specific items that it watches for in the other logs. Over time, a large number
of these files can accumulate that are no longer particularly useful. The files are now
removed as they get too old to preserve disk space, which reduces the size and time to
handle troubleshooting packages. (TL-6800)
XML did not start after log rotate. This appeared to happen because not all XML
processes were previously stopped. This has been fixed. (TL-7041, EAR 8211)
Documentation and help
Help instructions to set up and authorize SSH were missing the “ssh-agent”
step. In the Role Swap chapter of the Configuration Guide and in the AutoCopy chapter
of the Supplemental Installation Guide, the ssh-agent step was missing. This has been
fixed. (TL-6892)
Running netconfig with -g option on eth1 broke the eth0 configuration. After
configuring eth1 with netconfig -g and then pinging the IP address or hostname of eth0,
the ping failed. The -g option should be specified when configuring eth0 only. The
documentation has been updated. (TL-6894, EAR 7914)
