Virtual TapeServer 8.2 Release Notes

Known Issues | 22
Kernel panic may occur if SCSI VTD is edited while host is scanning devices. If
you change the bus and LUN of a SCSI VTD and the host is scanning devices, the system
may panic and the web interface may stop responding. (TL-4018)
ACPI Exception messages are displayed and logged during boot. At boot time,
messages similar to the following may be displayed on the system console and in /var/log/
dmesg. These messages are benign and may be ignored. (TL-2280)
ACPI Exception (acpi_processor-0681): AE_NOT_FOUND, Processor Device
is not present [20060707]
ACPI: Getting cpuindex for acpiid 0x2
Trace messages may be displayed on the console. These messages can be ignored.
(TL-3032)
SAS connectivity
SAS VTLs and VTDs do not return after disconnecting the SAS cable during a
write. (TL-7604)
WORKAROUND: Reboot the initiator. The VTS may display “Target retry...” errors
during the reboot; these errors are ignorable.
NetBackup restore fails, listing two tapes with same volume name, when
connected over SAS. The failure will cause “no entity was found” messages to be found
in the log. (TL-7605)
General operations
Shutting down TapeServer takes a long time. When TapeServer shuts down, ports
are put back into initiator mode causing the shutdown to take longer. (TL-7458, EAR
8610)
Cancels left in cancel queue may cause backups to fail. Mount cancels that remain
in the cancel queue due to an infrequent timing issue, can cause a mount to be canceled
that shouldn't be. (TL-7456, EAR 8575)
vtsa user cannot mount CD or DVD. The vtsa user is not able to execute mount
commands. (TL-6748)
WORKAROUND: Use the bill user instead.
Incorrect serial number of SCSI VTD is displayed in the System Tools menu
with V7iOS (V7R1). The serial number does not display correctly in the System Tools
menu with V7iOS (V7R1) when a SCSI VTD is used. (TL-6260)
SCSI bus resets do not clear reservations. When VTS receives a SCSI bus reset, it
should clear any existing VTD or VTL reservations. (TL-6096)
WORKAROUND: Restart TapeServer or reboot.
System locks up if debug log consumes disk space. With debug log set to verbose
and if you run out of disk space, VTS “locks” up. (TL-144)
WORKAROUND: Compress (ZIP) or delete the debug log.
