Virtual TapeServer 8.2 Release Notes

Known Issues | 35
Certain Access Control settings cause each update cycle to prompt for a
password. If Access Control for operations is set to one of the following, the web interface
prompts for a password three times every time a page refreshes: 'BASIC access', 'Vault
Access', 'Access to All Vaults', 'View System Status', 'Change Refresh Rate', 'Stop and
Start TapeServer'. The dialog can be cancelled (and works correctly), but it will prompt
again on the next update cycle. (TL-1920)
WORKAROUND: Lengthen the browser’s refresh cycle to minimize the impact of this
issue.
Cannot re-log in to the web interface using the Log In button. If you are logged in
as a non-administrative user, you must close the browser window and log in again as an
administrator. The Log In button on the interface will not log you in as another user. (TL-
1033)
User and group changes can be applied but not saved as part of the Custom
Defaults. On the Access Control page, you can save user and group settings by clicking
the Save as CUSTOM button but subsequent changes to the custom defaults cannot be
saved. (TL-377)
Must click Restore CUSTOM Defaults button twice to display the “Users and
Groups” and “Rights” sections of the page. When you click the Restore CUSTOM
Defaults button, the “Users and Groups” and “Rights” sections of the Access Control page
are not displayed. You must click the button again to display these sections and restore
the custom defaults. (TL-378)
Certificate Management
Revoking original certificate indicates “Certificate revoked” though it cannot
be. When attempting to revoke “Original Certificate”, the web interface says “Certificate
revoked.” However, the certificate is not revoked. The message should indicate that the
original self-signed certificate cannot be revoked. (TL-5951)
Select Usages checkbox on Edit Certificate form is confusing. This option
activates the certificate; it should be renamed. (TL-5677)
Importing invalid certificate displays error. Attempting to import an invalid
certificate displays the error “Nested asn1 error”. (TL-4822)
VTL
Last slot in VTL shows up as cleaning tape in EMC RSA Legato Networker. The
last slot is always designated as a cleaning tape and will not be used for backups. You
cannot label the tape. The barcode is read correctly but the volume is marked as a
cleaning tape. (TL-7641)
Inserting more virtual tapes into a VTL than there are slots available does not
indicate that there was a failure. There is no indication that the action was successful
or failed and the shelf remains displayed with the tapes still showing the check marks.
The web interface does not navigate to the VTL, as it should. There is no error or warning
message that not all virtual tapes were added as requested. Selecting the VTL filter will
show the virtual tapes that successfully were added. (TL-7619)
VTLs fail if virtual tapes are not deleted before the containing VTL is deleted.
Virtual tapes must be removed from the VTL before the VTL is deleted. Failure to do this
can result in failure of all VTLs on the system. (TL-7634, TL-7622)
