Virtual TapeServer 8.3 Release Notes
Known Issues | 20
 Tape label not checked when writing to the tape. VTS does not check to ensure that
the label being written on the tape is the same as the name of the tape, thus allowing for
the possibility for a mislabeled tape. (TL-1051)
WORKAROUND: Delete the tape on the VTS host and recreate it with the correct label.
 Cartridges created in a batch show the same creation time in the event log.
(TL-996)
 Request to mount cartridge fails if a currently mounted cartridge is unmounted
by another process while processing the mount request. If a request is issued to
mount a cartridge in a virtual tape drive where another cartridge is mounted, the request
is ignored if the mounted cartridge is unmounted while VTS is processing the mount
request. (TL-368)
WORKAROUND: Attempt to mount the cartridge again.
 To disable ISC, two parameters must be set. The
ems_InterSystemCommunication_hosts and interSystemCommunication_enable
parameters must be set to indicate that ISC should be disabled. Otherwise, ISC will still
be enabled. (TL-240)
WORKAROUND: To disable ISC, set these parameters in the VTS configuration file:
interSystemCommunication_enable=”NO”
ems_InterSystemCommunication_hosts=”ems_InterSystemCommunication_host
s=””
Then, stop ISC from the Manage System Tasks page.
Web interface
This section has been subdivided to better classify the issues.
General
 Internal Server Error displayed if hardware is failing. If you attempt to access the
web interface while hardware is failing, an internal server error is displayed. Instead of
this error, the attempt to communicate with the hardware should timeout. (TL-7346)
 A dialog box fails to close properly. In some instances a dialog box used to show
progress or feedback fails to close properly. (TL-7944)
WORKAROUND: Click on any link or refresh the browser.
 Vault mounted using multipathing is not listed on Manage File System Checks
page. (TL-7610)
 Cannot view list in Firefox if deleting a large number of cartridges. When
deleting a large number of cartridges using FireFox, the popup window may appear wider
than the browser window, making it impossible to select the buttons. In Firefox, the
cartridges are listed in one long line. In IE the cartridges in the popup are formatted on
several lines and not all cartridges are listed if they will not fit. (TL-7453)
 The “System Settings” page may fail to load. Failing hardware attached to VTS may
cause the “Systems Settings” page to fail to respond. (TL-7160)
WORKAROUND: Disconnect the failing hardware from VTS.
 Slow performance on Virtual Drives page. It takes over a minute before the Virtual
Drives page loads with more than 30 VTDs. (TL-7343)
