Virtual TapeServer 8.3 Release Notes
Known Issues | 25
Cartridge size check done on Cartridge Maintenance page instead of Pool
Maintenance page. Though you specify a maximum cartridge size on the Pool
Maintenance page, the system does not check for the size; it checks on the Cartridge
Maintenance page. (TL-3772)
Cannot click button to confirm deletion of cartridges if deleting many. When
deleting many cartridges, the confirmation dialog box extends off the screen and does not
show the OK button. (TL-3562)
WORKAROUND: Press Enter when the dialog is displayed to confirm the deletion.
List of cartridges is incorrect if duplicates exist on the system. After an import,
the list of cartridges displayed on the user interface may not match the list of cartridges
on the file system. This occurs if there are duplicate pools or cartridges. (TL-3170)
Page loads slowly if expanded pool contains many cartridges. If you view or
refresh the Configure Tapes and Pools page and a pool that contains many cartridges is
expanded, the web interface is very slow to display the page. If there is cartridge activity
(backup, export, copy, and so on), the page may take up to four minutes to load. (TL-3011,
TL-3012, TL-515)
Window button on Configure Tapes and Pools page does not scroll when using
Firefox. The Window button on the Configure Tapes and Pools page should scroll with
the page but instead locks in place when the page is scrolled up or down. This seems to
only happen with Firefox 3.0.11. (TL-3300)
Performance of Configure Tapes and Pools page in GFS cluster degrades as
number of systems grows. The Configure Tapes and Pools page in a GFS cluster loads
slowly and performance degrades as the cluster size grows. The time to load the page can
take up to 20 minutes or longer in such cases, with only one node loading the page. (TL-
3041, EAR-4912)
Web interface shows incorrect size of a cartridge that was created by the host
server and then erased. With an empty cartridge, the label and trailer size are
combined. When the cartridge is erased, the label remains, but the trailer is removed. If
there is data on the cartridge, the label size is accurate before and after the erase.
(TL-3020)
Cartridge Status pop-up dialog is not updated while a cartridge is mounted. If
you display the Cartridge pop-up dialog by clicking a link in the size (MB) column of the
Configure Tapes and Pools page and then the cartridge is mounted, the data is not
updated on the pop-up. (TL-2350)
WORKAROUND: View this information when the cartridge is not mounted.
Cartridge sizes are not displayed properly. Cartridges created with 1TB, 1GB, or
1MB limits will display, respectively, as 1024GB, 1024MB, and 1024K. However, 2TB
cartridges display as 2TB, 2GB carts display as 2GB, and 2MB cartridges display as 2MB.
(TL-2365)
Performance slows and the web interface becomes unresponsive if you close the
browser during a pool move. After the pool is moved, the web interface becomes
responsive again. The popup dialog box should indicate not to close the window or tab
while the pool move is in progress. (TL-4956)
Virtual tapes cannot be renamed. You cannot rename a virtual tape. (TL-4414, EAR-
6411)
WORKAROUND: Create new virtual tapes with the desired name using the Advanced
Media Actions option on the Manage Virtual Tapes page.
