Virtual TapeServer 8.3 Release Notes

Known Issues | 27
Data size incorrect on Manage Virtual Tapes page after data change during a
stacked export. Data sizes may vary between the Configure Tapes and Pools page and
the Manage Virtual Tapes page if a stacked export is being performed and then new data
is written to the cartridge while the stacked export is in progress. (TL-4953)
WORKAROUND: For accurate cartridge size information, view cartridge information
using the pop-up dialog box on the Manage Virtual Tapes or Configure Tapes and Pools
page.
Long pool name obscures vault and location columns on Manage Virtual Tapes
page. A pool with a long name obscures the data in the Vault and Location columns.
(TL-4779)
Misleading error message displayed when inserting a cartridge into a disabled
VTL. The error message indicates “1 cartridge failed. /VAULT04/6dVTLPool/6DV000 =>
Error encountered attempting to open file: /VAULT04/6dVTLPool/6DV000 “. Instead, it
should indicate that the VTL is disabled. (TL-5023)
Mounts and Locks page allows the removal of locks on VTDs in VTLs. The Mounts
and Locks page accessible from the Configure Tapes and Pools page allows the removal of
locks on cartridges. It will remove the lock on a cartridge within a VTL, but it will not
remove the VTL lock. The correct functionality should be that it does not show cartridges
that have the VTL lock, and it does not allow removal of those locks. Note that if you are
not using VTLs, you should not use the Mounts and Locks page. (TL-4012)
Incorrect error displayed if mount fails because cartridge is corrupt.
“Destination Element Address 257 is Already Full” error displayed after attempt to mount
corrupted tapes. Because the drive is not full and the tape is corrupt, the response to the
initiator should not indicate that the drive is full. (TL-4007)
VTL may be loaded with too many cartridges. When a VTL is edited and more
virtual tapes are placed in the VTL than number of slots available, the library may fail to
startup and remain in the disabled state. (TL-3624)
Unmount button for virtual tapes in a virtual library does not work. You cannot
manually unmount a virtual tape that resides in a virtual library. (TL-1384)
WORKAROUND: Use the Manage Virtual Tapes page and remove the cartridge from the
VTL instead of trying to unmount it.
Manage Virtual Drives page does not differentiate between cartridges mounted
read-only and cartridges mounted read/write. (TL-5034)
WORKAROUND: View the Configure Tapes and Pools page and hover over each drive's
status indicator.
Selecting All from the Filter By Pool drop-down list automatically changes the
selection to Please Select. The correct cartridges are displayed, though. This is simply
a display problem with the drop-down list. (TL-4469)
opwin_ configuration file parameters are not enforced on the Manage Virtual
Tapes page. If opwin_ShowReadOnly, opwin_ShowLimits, opwin_ShowCompression, or
opwin_ShowLastWritten is set to YES in the vts.conf file, the Manage Virtual Tapes page
does not recognize the settings. (TL-4447)
