Known Issues | 43
Error, miscellaneous messages logged after successful NetBackup migration.
Message similar to the following are logged in the debug log after a successful migration
with NetBackup 6.5:
Fri Nov 7 14:45:27 2008: [slave_signal_thread 15713] SIGCHLD received
while no active child, ignoring it.
Fri Nov 7 14:45:32 2008: [cli_tape 0x05000107] ERROR UNKNOWN tape
command 0x44 for Id 0
Fri Nov 07 14:46:15 2008: [lsof.pl] Error: lsof.pl /usr/sbin/lsof |
grep “/VAULT00/MAXPOOL/MAX001” 2>&1 failed!, rc=1, error=No system
error detected. Please check application logs for application errors.
(errno=-1).
These messages are benign and can be ignored. (TL-2347)
The hsm_summary_limit configuration parameter is not used. This parameter
should not be used. (TL-2272)
Unable to unmigrate a pool. You cannot unmigrate the cartridges in a pool by selecting
the pool; you must select individual cartridges. (TL-386, TL-8114, TL-5997)
Remote export
Failed Remote Export job does not send an e-mail alert. (TL-7212)
Remote export allows the same virtual tapes to be exported to multiple pools.
This occurs by starting a job targeting one pool and then creating a second job with the
same virtual tapes and targeting a different pool. Jobs can be created to make duplicate
virtual tapes, but this should be avoided since the duplicates will be confusing and can
cause VTS not to function properly. (TL-7247)
No error message if typo in /etc/hosts causes remote export to fail. If there is a
typo in the /etc/hosts file, the destination host is unreachable but there is no notification.
An error message should be generated if this occurs. (TL-6984, EAR-8107)
Backup management application support
Restoring an entire backup using ARCServe succeeds, but restoring individual
files fail. Restoring an entire backup consisting of a multi-tape spanned backup succeeds,
but restoring individual files fail. The error reported is “Invalid file signature
0c00000000”. The same error occurs on both fiber. (TL-7725)
Backup Exec tape capacity is not correct with MSL6000 and SDLT drive. Backup
Exec reports the wrong tape capacity when connected MSL6000 and SDLT drive. An
Ultrium 3 drive should be used in the MSL6000 if Backup Exec is used on the initiating
server. (TL-7940)
Backup Exec 2012 incorrectly reports VT sizes for SDLT and DLT7000. Backup
Exec 2012 incorrectly reports VT sizes for SDLT and DLT7000 tapes. Blank VTs show up
with 16MB of free space. Tapes with data report the wrong amount of space left and space
used. (TL-8063)
WORKAROUND: Use the Ultrium, or Ultrium 3-SCSI drive types for correct tape usage.
Backup Exec shows standalone VTDs as offline on a change of media. Every time
a new tape is mounted, it is shown as offline in Backup Exec. (TL-7617, EAR-8795)
