4. Configure the Network Time Protocol (NTP) by editing the /etc/ntp.conf file, as follows:
a. Remove this line:
restrict -6 default kod nomodify notrap nopeer noquery
b. Add the servers with which to synchronize:
restrict 0.centos.pool.ntp.org mask 255.255.255.255 nomodify
notrap noquery
restrict 1.centos.pool.ntp.org mask 255.255.255.255 nomodify
notrap noquery
restrict 2.centos.pool.ntp.org mask 255.255.255.255 nomodify
notrap noquery
c. Save and close the file.
5. Enable the NTP service:
chkconfig ntpd on
6. Start the NTP service:
/etc/init.d/ntpd start
7. Disconnect the serial cable, Ethernet cable attached to port 2, or the keyboard and monitor
from the server.
Configure storage space and path failover
If you are deploying an external array, you must define a storage space on the array for use with the
Linux operating system. Then, present a logical unit number (LUN) that refers to this storage space.
Each LUN should not represent more than 5TB of space. See the array documentation for details.
Path failover is required when more than one physical or logical path exists between VTS and
external disk storage, such as an MSA or HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA). (For the
EVA, a path failover connection is required through two ports on the VTS server to two ports on the
EVA.) If a path fails, another path becomes active and handles I/O for the LUNs on the failed path.
Only one path is active at a time for a LUN.
You can use the Device Mapper Multipath Enablement Kit to configure path failover. The dm-
multipath and devicemapper RPMs are installed by default on the VTS server. Download the latest
version of the Device Mapper Multipath Enablement Kit; the kit contains a multipath.conf file that
can be used with VTS:
