VTL
Modifying the number of slots within a VTL may cause the VTL to fail. (TL-8534)
WORKAROUND: If
the number of slots within a VTL needs to be modified, remove and
recreate the VTL.
For VTL drives, the eject button on the drives page will be visible, but not
usable. Attempting to use the eject button to eject a tape from a VTL drive will fail as
expected since the drives are controlled by the changer. The unmount attempt will result
in the following error: “Failed to umount, umount command failed with 101". This error
message can be ignored. (TL-7918)
Last slot in VTL shows up as cleaning tape in EMC RSA Legato Networker. The
last slot is always designated as a cleaning tape and will not be used for backups. You
cannot label the tape. The barcode is read correctly but the volume is marked as a
cleaning tape. (TL-7641)
Wrong tape displayed as cached data for VTL. If media is inserted or removed from a
VTL, the web interface does not update media information. (TL-7325)
WORKAROUND: Click the Clear Cache
button to have the web interface update the
information displayed indicating which media is currently in the VTL.
Deleting a VTL should move the cartridges back to the shelf. Instead, they are left
in the library according to the cached data. The cache should be updated when the VTL is
deleted. (TL-7381)
WORKAROUND: Click Clear Cache afte
r making modifications to VTL media.
Unable to eject media from AS/400 VTL. On AS/400 V6R1, ejecting media from a
virtual tape library may fail, indicating that there are no available slots in the library.
(TL-7326)
WORKAROUND: Eject media from the
VTL using the VTS web interface.
VTL is not updated after ejecting a tape. When removing media from a VTL, you
must clear the page cache to update the cached information on the location of the media
that has been removed. (TL-7333)
WORKAROUND: Click Clear Cache o
n the Manage Virtual Tapes page.
Incorrect serial numbers used for shared Fibre Channel VTLs. If a short serial
number is used when creating a VTL (less than 10 digits), the serial number may be
truncated and not displayed correctly. The tape type may also be affected. (TL-6263)
WORKAROUND: Use at
least 10 digits when manually entering a serial number.
SCSI VTL shows incorrect serial number on console. The serial number is incorrect
for SCSI VTLs. However, the associated tape drives have the correct serial numbers but
not the correct changer. Also, the SCSI VTL functions properly. (TL-4439)
VTL can not be deleted if /VAULT becomes unavailable. (TL-5882)
WORKAROUND: Cli
ck Manage Virtual Devices > Advanced > Manage Virtual Library
Configurations > Edit virtual library magazines. Choose the library you wish to delete.
Click Update (with no virtual tape loaded).
Mounts and unmounts appear to succeed though file system is full and failure
code is returned. When the root (/) filesystem is full and a mount or unmount is issued
to the VTL from the initiator, the operation fails and a failure code is returned to the host,
though the web interface indicates that it is successful. (TL-4199)
