Virtual TapeServer 8.4 Release Notes
Known Issues | 46
If a mount command is sent to a non-existent virtual tape drive, VTS reports
that the tape is missing, not the drive. When a mount request is received by EMS, if
the request specifies a tape drive that is not configured on the VTS, VTS sends a
notification to the host that the tape is not found. It should send a notification that the
drive is not found. (TL-2293)
SMTP and notifications
SMTP Delivery settings can be saved with no SMTP Server set. When configuring
the SMTP Delivery settings, a configuration can be saved even if there is no SMTP Server
set. No email will be delivered since there is no server specified. No warning or error
message is displayed to indicate the missing SMTP Server. (TL-8094)
Clicking Send without an email address on SMTP Settings page leaves web
interface in Sending state. When configuring SMTP settings, if you leave the email
address blank and click Send, the web interface displays an error message but leaves the
button in “Sending” mode. If you type a valid email address, it is not reset to Send. (TL-
7374)
WORKAROUND: Cli
ck the Apply button on this page and then the button is reset and
you can re-validate the email address.
Clustering
Policies will work on the node in the cluster on which they were created, but
will not work on other nodes within the cluster. Simple policies such as erase,
encrypt or decrypt may work on other nodes, but should not be considered reliable. (TL-
8507)
Generating a troubleshooting package on an system configured in a cluster
takes a long time. When VTS is configured in a cluster, it may take a long time to gather
information used to create the troubleshooting package. (TL-6915)
Cannot resolve the hostname in a clustered environment without a DNS server.
Currently, you cannot configure VTS in a clustered environment to use a fully qualified
domain name without the use of DNS. (TL-6874)
Pool Maintenance page loads slowly in a clustered environment. When you
display the Pool Maintenance page in a clustered environment, the page gathers all of the
file system statistics using the df command. On a busy clustered system or cluster that is
fencing, df hangs. (TL-0434)
Utilities, services, and logging
HP SIM 6.3 is not supported on the DL185G5. The message “ERROR: This Server is
NOT Supported!” will be seen when trying to start the services associated with HP SIM.
(TL-8137, EAR-9594)
versioncheck.log shows “did not match !” for all entries. Messages in
versioncheck.log are no longer relevant. VTS now uses different source versioning
software that does not use this old functionality. This log can be ignored. (TL-7378)
