Chapter 6: Using Visual Manager
After the VT5900-SA finishes rebooting, the HTTP session will have to be restarted. The IP
address will be different than the former non-DHCP IP address.
A DHCP server may allow the setup of a lease reservation for an IP address if provided with
the MAC address of the VT5900-SA. This forces the DHCP server to always provide the same
IP address to the VT5900-SA. This setup is useful for remote management of the VT5900-SA
via Telnet or Visual Manager. Because the method of setting up a lease reservation varies
depending on the DHCP server, it is recommended to contact your Network Administrator for
assistance.
Override Settings are provided to enhance interoperability with some storage devices that
require special consideration during setup of the VT5900-SA configuration menus. To access
the Overrides Settings, select the Go button.

override menu options.
MAC address is the Ethernet physical address of the VT5900-SA. Ethernet physical
addresses are always assigned to Ethernet adapters by the manufacturers.
Note: To use the DHCP feature, a DHCP server must be operational on the Ethernet network
connected to the VT5900-SA. If the DHCP feature is used when there is no DHCP server, the
standard for DHCP requires that the VT5900-SA wait three minutes for a response from a DHCP
server before timing out. During this period, the VT5900-SA menus and functions will not be
accessible.
Note: Normally, override settings should not be changed except when directed to do so by
an authorized HP technician.
