Overview of the Configuration Procedure
These general steps summarize the procedure for adding a new SWAN concentrator to
your system configuration:
1. Determine which ports on which LAN adapters will be used to connect the SWAN
concentrator to your server. Guidelines for selecting ports on E4SAs, FESAs,
GESAs, or G4SAs are provided in Planning for LAN Communications on page 4-2.
2. Complete these forms for the installer:
•
Installation Documentation Packet Checklist. Depending on your RVU, see
either the NonStop NS-Series Planning Guide or the NonStop S-series
Planning and Configuration Guide for the configuration forms for the system
and system enclosures.
•
System Equipment Inventory Form. List only the SWAN concentrator that is
being added to the system.
•
Floor Plan Diagram. Show where in the room the SWAN concentrator is to be
installed.
•
Preinstalled I/O Device Cable Check List. Complete this form only if you are
connecting the SWAN concentrator to preinstalled cables.
Note. If you ordered your SWAN or SWAN 2 concentrator with a NonStop S-series server, do
not use this section to configure your concentrator. Use Section 1, Configuration Quick Start
instead.
Note. Throughout this manual when a distinction between a SWAN concentrator (T3880) and
SWAN 2 concentrator (T3881) is not required, SWAN concentrator is used as a collective term.
