Adding a SWAN Concentrator

Step 1: Selecting E4SAs, FESAs, GESAs, or G4SAs
Step 1: Selecting E4SAs, FESAs, GESAs, or G4SAs
HP recommends that you configure the SWAN concentrator to connect to ports on two
E4SAs, FESAs, GESAs, G4SAs or VIO enclosures. This configuration provides fault
tolerance for the input/output processes (IOPs) that use the SWAN concentrator in the
event of a failure on one of the paths to the SWAN concentrator.
Number of LAN Adapters Supported By Enclosure Type
•
Up to two LAN adapters (that is, E4SA, FESA, and GESA) are supported in a
NonStop S-series processor enclosure.
•
Up to four of NonStop S-series adapters are supported in a NonStop S-series I/O
enclosure.
•
Up to 10 G4SAS are supported in an IOAM enclosure.
•
Up to two slots in a VIO enclosure. (There are two VIO enclosures in a system.)
The SWAN concentrator can be configured to connect any processors.
Displaying the Configured Adapters
Use the ServerNet LAN systems access (SLSA) subsystem SCF INFO ADAPTER
command to display all the LAN adapters on your system.
Each Ethernet port on a LAN adapter is associated with a logical interface (LIF) and a
physical interface (PIF). A LIF is a naming point and a logical abstraction of the
physical port; LIF names should follow HP naming conventions. Depending on your
RVU, see HP Manufacturing Naming Conventions (G06.26 and Earlier RVUs) on
page 1-3 or HP Manufacturing Naming Conventions (G06.27 and Later RVUs and
H06.03 and Later RVUs) on page 1-7.
Note. The Ethernet ports in a VIO enclosure are represented by the G4SA adapter Type in
SLSA. (The VIO enclosure is supported in H06.08 and subsequent H-series RVUs.) For more
information about the SLSA interface to the VIO enclosure, see the LAN Configuration and
Management Manual.
