Configuring the SWAN Concentrator
Configuring the SWAN Concentrator
This subsection describes how to add a new SWAN concentrator to your system
configuration. It also contains information about the processes that must be running
before you begin the configuration procedure and the naming conventions to follow
when adding processes to your system configuration.
Before You Begin
•
Before attempting to add a new SWAN concentrator, familiarize yourself with the
following:
°
Your system-configuration files and the procedure for making changes to these
files. See Configuration Files on page 3-1 and Change Procedure on page 3-4.
°
HP naming conventions. Depending on your RVU, see HP Manufacturing
Naming Conventions (G06.26 and Earlier RVUs) on page 1-3 or HP
Manufacturing Naming Conventions (G06.27 and Later RVUs and H06.03 and
Later RVUs) on page 1-7.
•
The following processes must be configured and running before you can perform
the configuration steps described in this subsection:
°
The WAN manager process ($ZZWAN). The primary WAN manager process is
configured in processor 0 and its backup is configured in processor 1. The
WAN manager process is configured by HP manufacturing in the initial system
configuration and is started during the system-load sequence.
°
The TCP/IP processes and SUBNETs that support the LAN adapters you plan
to use to connect the SWAN concentrator to your Integrity NonStop NS-series
or NonStop S-series server. You identified these processes and SUBNETs
using the commands described in Planning for LAN Communications on
page 4-2.
Verifying the Initial WAN Subsystem Configuration on page 1-18 describes how
to verify that these processes are in the STARTED state.
Overview of Adding a SWAN Concentrator
To add a SWAN concentrator to your system configuration, familiarize yourself with the
SCF commands in Table 4-2 and then use the WAN subsystem SCF interface to
perform the Configuration Steps on page 4-18.
Note. As an alternative to using multiple Subsystem Control Facility (SCF) commands, you
can configure one or more SWAN concentrators using WAN Wizard Pro, a graphical user
interface (GUI) that guides you step-by-step through the configuration process. For information
about how to access WAN Wizard Pro, see About This Manual
.
