Altering WAN Subsystem Processes and Objects
Altering WAN Subsystem Processes and Objects
You use the WAN subsystem SCF ALTER command to alter WAN subsystem
processes and objects.
A process or an object must be in the STOPPED state before it can be altered. You
can stop objects and processes using the commands described in Stopping WAN
Subsystem Processes and Objects on page 5-7.
Altering a PROFILE Object
You can use the SCF ALTER PROFILE command to alter a modifier in a profile. A
profile defines configuration modifiers that are used by the data-communications
subsystem objects. Here is an example of using ALTER PROFILE to change the
values of several modifiers:
ALTER PROFILE $ZZWAN.#CP6130, &
BSCNONSTOPOFF, BSCSYNCS 3, BSCREADTO 3000, &
BSCRETRIES 7, BSCITBSIZE 0, PROFILEID 1
Altering a DEVICE Object
You can use the SCF ALTER DEVICE command to change any modifier or modifier
value in the device record for a specific DEVICE object. When you use the SCF
ALTER DEVICE command to change a modifier or modifier value, you are changing
the device record for that device, not the profile used by that DEVICE object. Modifiers
and modifier values that are part of a device record can be different from the modifiers
and modifier values in the profile used by a DEVICE object.
For more information about the relationship between DEVICE and PROFILE objects,
see Associating a PROFILE Object to a DEVICE Object on page 4-28.
Table 5-4. WAN Subsystem SCF ALTER Command Objects
Command Object Description
ALTER ADAPTER Changes the values of the attributes of a SWAN concentrator.
DEVICE Changes the values of the attributes of a data-communications
subsystem object.
PATH Changes the IP address of an existing PATH object.
PROCESS Changes the values of attributes of a ConMgr, an SNMP trap
multiplexer, a TFTP server, or a WANBoot process. You
cannot alter the HOSTIP or TCP/IP attributes for WanBoot,
TFTP, or SNMP trap multiplexer processes.
PROFILE Changes the PROFILE configuration. A profile defines
configuration modifiers that are used by the data-
communications subsystem objects.
TASK Downloads the task microcode to the CLIP FLASH memory.
