ABORT PROCESS Command
Considerations
These notes describe considerations you should be aware of before using the ABORT
PROCESS command to abort the ConMgr, SNMP trap multiplexer, TFTP server, or
WANBoot process.
ConMgr Process
•
DEVICE objects use the ConMgr process to download data link control (DLC)
tasks to the SWAN concentrator. DLC tasks cannot be downloaded when the
ConMgr process that a device uses is stopped. Otherwise, device activity is not
interrupted by aborting the ConMgr process.
•
The WAN manager process uses the ConMgr process when a START or STATUS
TASK command is issued, so these commands cannot be executed when the
ConMgr process used is stopped.
SNMP Trap Multiplexer Process
While the SNMP trap multiplexer process is aborted it cannot accept SNMP trap
messages issued by the SWAN concentrator communications line interface processors
(CLIPs).
TFTP Server Process
When the TFTP server process is aborted, you cannot download these components to
the SWAN concentrator:
•
SNMP task firmware
•
DLC task firmware
•
DIAG task (used by OSM and TSM; note that TSM is not supported on
Integrity NonStop NS-series servers.)
•
FIRMUP task
WANBoot Process
•
Since the WANBoot process is used to download IP addresses to the SWAN
concentrator, any IP addresses associated with the same TCP/IP subnet as the
WANBoot process (through the ADD PATH or ALTER PATH commands) cannot be
downloaded while the WANBoot process is aborted.
•
If the SWAN concentrator is powered on while the WANBoot process is aborted, IP
addresses cannot be downloaded to the SWAN concentrator, so no activity on the
SWAN concentrator can take place.
