discovery processes will not find the SWAN concentrator when the SWAN
concentrator is powered on.
During the configuration of WAN objects, the WAN manager process is provided
with files. The files are specified for the KERNELCODE attribute, SNMPCODE
attribute, IOPOBJECT attribute, and PROFILE object.
The WAN manager process uses the persistence principle to resolve the file in the
current SYSnn/CSSnn to locate the files. This keeps the most recent files being
used even when the SYSnn/CSSnn changes.
The WAN manager process resolves the subvolume by using this algorithm:
1. First, the WAN manager process checks for the file in the current
SYSnn/CSSnn.
2. If the file does not exist in the current SYSnn/CSSnn, the WAN manager
process checks for the file in the SYSTEM subvolume.
3. If the file does not exist in the SYSTEM subvolume, the WAN manager process
checks for the file in the specified subvolume.
4. If the file does not exist in any of these subvolumes, an error is generated and
the WAN manager process does not exit.
5. If the file was located in one of the subvolumes, the WAN manager process
configures the object with the file resolved and saves the resolved subvolume
in the system CONFIG database.
6. The WAN manager process applies this algorithm, while accepting SCF ADD
and ALTER commands and during the coldload of the system (and restart of
WANMGR). This action ensures that the files are taken from the current
SYSnn/CSSnn or SYSTEM subvolumes.
The file name specified in the KERNELCODE attribute is
$SYSTEM.CSSnn.xxxxxPxx when specifying the SWAN microcode file name and
$SYSTEM.CSSnn.xxxxxQxx when specifying the SWAN 2 microcode file name.
The file name specified in the KERNELCODE attribute must be secured with “N”
read access.
If the KERNELCODE specified does not match the ADAPTER TYPE configured
the command fails and an error is generated.
If the ADAPTER object added is in a new subnet, the WanBoot, TFTP and SNMP
trap multiplexer processes for this subnet are automatically configured and started
as soon as the ADAPTER object is added.
The following combinations of the HOSTIP address and TCP/IP name generate an
error in these cases:
Note. This algorithm applies only if the volume is a system disk (usually $SYSTEM).
