ALTER PROCESS Command
STARTUP"TCP/IP tcpip-name,[DUMPVOL $dumps]"
is an ASCII string representing the startup message that is passed to the WANBoot
process when it is created and started. tcpip-name indicates the name of a
TCP/IP process that supports the SWAN concentrator.
By default, WANBoot saves the SWAN CLIP DUMP files on
$SYSTEM.ZWANDUMP subvolume. To configure WanBoot with a different custom
location, you can provide a new optional DUMPVOL parameter in the STARTUP
string.
The DUMPVOL parameter can be followed after the TCP/IP process name is
provided in the STARTUP string. If the DUMPVOL parameter is specified and a
legal VOLUME name is provided, WANBoot stores the SWAN CLIP DUMP files on
the user-specified volume ($volume.zwandump.*). If errors occur in writing to the
user specified volume, WANBoot users to subvolume $SYSTEM.ZWANDUMP.
TYPE type , sub-type
indicates the NonStop Kernel registered type and subtype for the PROCESS
object. The type and subtype for a WANBoot process are 0,30.
Considerations
•
You cannot alter the HOSTIP or TCP/IP attributes. If you try to alter them an error
message occurs. (for example, “No Adapter configured” or “Another process with
the same HOSTIP already configured”).
The following notes describe considerations you should be aware of before using the
ALTER PROCESS command to modify the ConMgr, SNMP trap multiplexer, TFTP
server, or WANBoot process.
ConMgr Process
•
DEVICE objects use the ConMgr when they want to download data link control
(DLC) tasks to the SWAN concentrator, so this activity cannot take place when the
ConMgr that a device uses is stopped. Otherwise, device activity is not interrupted
by aborting the ConMgr.
•
The WAN manager process uses the ConMgr when a START or STATUS TASK
command is issued, so this activity cannot take place when the ConMgr process
that the WAN manager process uses is stopped.
TFTP Server Process
•
The download files accessed by the TFTP server process must be secured with
“N” read access.
Value: The name of the TCP/IP process as configured in the TCP/IP sub-
system SCF ADD PROCESS command.
Default: None provided.
