Subsystem
The WAN subsystem software components that reside in the system processors
consist of:
•
One WAN manager process
•
One or more concentrator manager (ConMgr) processes
•
One or more SNMP trap multiplexer processes
•
One or more Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) server processes
•
One or more WANBoot processes
•
WAN shared driver
•
TCP/IP, NonStop TCP/IPv6, and Parallel Library TCP/IP
•
Systems LAN Access Subsystem (SLSA)
Figure 2-1 on page 2-4 illustrates the WAN subsystem software components and other
supporting processes. Also shown is an input/output process (IOP). The
data-communications subsystem objects, that function as line-handler processes are
typically referred to as IOPs. An IOP is configured by the WAN subsystem to use a
communications line on the SWAN concentrator. Other data-communications
subsystem objects, such as the Expand network control process ($NCP), are
configured by the WAN subsystem but do not use the SWAN concentrator.
