WAN Manager Process
WAN Manager Process
The WAN manager process is created and managed by the NonStop Kernel
subsystem as a subsystem manager process. The WAN manager process starts and
manages the WAN subsystem processes, including the concentrator manager
(ConMgr) process, the WANBoot processes, and the data-communications subsystem
objects listed in Table 2-1 on page 2-1. Configuration information is stored in the
configuration database.
Concentrator Manager (ConMgr) Process
The concentrator manager (ConMgr) process performs several functions to support an
IOP. For example, the ConMgr process verifies that the SWAN concentrator is the
correct type of concentrator and that the SWAN concentrator executes the correct data
link control (DLC) task for the IOP.
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Trap Multiplexer
Process
The SNMP trap multiplexer process accepts SNMP trap task messages issued by the
SWAN concentrator communications line interface processors (CLIPs). (CLIPs are
described in Architecture and Components of the SWAN Concentrator (T3880).) These
trap messages are converted to Event Management Service (EMS) messages and are
saved in the EMS log files.
You can use the OSM or TSM EMS Event Viewer to access the EMS logs and to
analyze and display the SWAN concentrator event messages. OSM and TSM also
analyze the trap messages. If a trap message indicates a problem, OSM and TSM
generate alarms (in the OSM Service Connection and TSM Service Application) and
dialouts (if configured, in the OSM or TSM Notification Director).
Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) Server Process
The TFTP server process is used by the SWAN concentrator CLIP to download the
following:
SNMP task firmware
Data Link Control (DLC) task firmware
DIAG task firmware (used by TSM)
FIRMUP procedure
The TFTP server process accesses an assigned TCP/IP process to accept GETFILE
commands from the SWAN concentrators CLIPs. The GETFILE commands transfer
the SNMP task, DIAG task, or DLC task code files from the NonStop NS-series or
NonStop S-series server disk files to the TFTP client that runs in the essential firmware
of the SWAN concentrator.
Note. TSM is not supported on Integrity NonStop NS-series servers. OSM is the supported
system management tool for Integrity NonStop NS-series servers.
