Path Switching
B. If the ADAPTER preferred path
TCP/IP process
•
is not started, or
•
has failed, or
•
is not primaried in the same pro-
cessor as the primary IOP
Use the ADAPTER alternate path TCP/IP
process, if the ADAPTER alternate TCP/IP
process
•
is started, and
•
has not failed, and
•
is primaried in the same processor as the
primary IOP.
Select the IP address for the CLIP by using
the PATH B IP address.
C. If the ADAPTER preferred path
TCP/IP process and the ADAPTER
alternate path TCP/IP process are not
in the same processor as the primary
IOP
Determine if either TCP/IP process is active in
the backup IOP processor. If either process is
active, then the ConMgr process returns an
ownership error to the IOP. This action causes
the IOP to switch to its backup process. Now,
the new primary IOP starts trying to activate a
path again. (Go to A.)
D. If the ADAPTER preferred path
TCP/IP process and the ADAPTER
alternate path TCP/IP process are not
in the same processor as the backup
IOP
Use the ADAPTER preferred path TCP/IP
process, if it
•
is started, and
•
has not failed.
Select the IP address for the CLIP by using
the PATH A IP address.
E. If the ADAPTER preferred path
TCP/IP process and the ADAPTER
alternate path TCP/IP process
•
are not in the same processor as
the backup IOP, and
•
if the ADAPTER preferred path
TCP/IP process is not started or
has failed
Use the ADAPTER alternate path TCP/IP
process, if it
•
is started, and
•
has not failed.
Select the IP address for the CLIP by using
the PATH B IP address.
F. If the ADAPTER preferred path
TCP/IP process and the ADAPTER
alternate path TCP/IP process
•
are not in the same processor as
the backup IOP, and
•
if the ADAPTER preferred path
TCP/IP process is not started or
has failed, and
•
if the ADAPTER alternate path
TCP/IP process is not started or
has failed
A “NO PATH AVAILABLE” error is returned to
the IOP.
