SWAN 2 concentrator connections provide redundant ServerNet X and Y fabrics to the
Ethernet adapters. If one ServerNet fabric fails, the Ethernet adapter can still be
accessed using the remaining ServerNet fabric.
HP recommends configuring a SWAN 2 concentrator to connect to Ethernet ports on
two E4SAs, FESAs, GESAs, or G4SAs; this type of configuration provides more
fault-tolerance for the IOPs that use the lines on the SWAN 2 concentrator.
Integrity NonStop NS-Series Server Connection
The SWAN 2 concentrator connects to the Integrity NonStop NS-series server using
fault-tolerant, 10/100 Base-T connections provided by one or two
Gigabit Ethernet 4-port ServerNet adapters (G4SAs) or (in H06.08 and subsequent
H-series RVUs)
VIO enclosures. G4SAs are installed in an I/O Adapter Module (IOAM)
enclosure. In a VIO enclosure, Ethernet ports in slots 6 and 7 provide similar
functionality and also are represented in the SLSA subsystem by the G4SA adapter
Type. For more information about connecting the SWAN concentrator to a VIO
enclosure, see the Versatile I/O Manual. For more information about the SLSA
interface to the VIO enclosure, see the Versatile I/O Manual.
NonStop S-Series Server Connection
The SWAN 2 concentrator connects to the NonStop S-series server using
fault-tolerant, 10/100 Base-T Ethernet connections provided by one or two Ethernet 4
ServerNet adapters (E4SAs), Fast Ethernet ServerNet adapters (FESAs), Gigabit
Ethernet ServerNet adapters (GESAs), or Gigabit Ethernet 4-port ServerNet adapters
(G4SAs).
NonStop S-Series I/O Enclosure Attached to Integrity
Nonstop NS-Series Server Connection
The SWAN 2 concentrator connects to a NonStop S-series I/O enclosure that is
attached to an Integrity NonStop server in the same manner as NonStop S-Series
Server Connection; however, I/O multifunction 2 (IOMF 2) components must be
installed in the NonStop S-series enclosure in order to access the Integrity NonStop
server’s processor-switch (p-switch). For more information about this configuration,
see the Introduction to Networking for HP Integrity NonStop NS-Series Servers or the
NonStop NS-Series Planning Guide.
Note. The data transfer rate is 10 Mbps for SWAN 2 when using an E4SA.
