Configuration Guidelines
The SWAN concentrator can be configured to connect between any processors.
The preferred and alternate TCP/IP processes that one SWAN concentrator is
configured to use must be configured with separate SUBNETS.
The IP addresses associated with Ethernet path A must be on the same SUBNET
as the preferred TCP/IP process. The IP addresses associated with Ethernet
path B must be on the same SUBNET as the alternate TCP/IP process.
The IP addresses associated with Ethernet path A must be on a different SUBNET
than the IP addresses associated with Ethernet path B. (This should always be the
case because the preferred and alternate TCP/IP processes are configured on
different SUBNETS).
When configuring new processes, follow HP manufacturing naming conventions:
°
HP Manufacturing Naming Conventions (G06.26 and Earlier RVUs) on
page 1-3
°
HP Manufacturing Naming Conventions (G06.27 and Later RVUs and H06.03
and Later RVUs) on page 1-7
Ethernet Port Reconfiguration Example
1. Display the configured E4SAs, FESAs, GESAs, or G4SAs on your system by using
use the SLSA subsystem SCF INFO ADAPTER command.
Each port on an E4SA, FESA, GESA, or G4SA is associated with a logical
interface (LIF) and a physical interface (PIF). A LIF is a naming point and a logical
abstraction of the physical port; LIF names should follow HP naming conventions.
Depending on your RVU, see either:

page 1-3
°
HP Manufacturing Naming Conventions (G06.27 and Later RVUs and H06.03
and Later RVUs) on page 1-7.
