Reconfiguring the SWAN Concentrator IP Addresses
SNMP trap multiplexer processes. The ADD command accepts the new HOSTIP
attribute and the INFO command displays the configured HOSTIP for these processes.
Reconfiguring the SWAN Concentrator IP
Addresses
The IP addresses that are downloaded to the SWAN concentrator might need to be
replaced if the network is reconfigured. To change IP addresses on the SWAN
concentrator, reconfigure the PATH object with the new IP addresses. You might need
to replace one IP address or all six IP addresses.
The steps below summarize reconfiguration of an IP address on a SWAN concentrator
(For more information, see IP Address Reconfiguration Example on page 3-11):
1. Shut down the WAN lines that are using the affected path with the appropriate data
communications subsystem SCF STOP LINE command. (You only need to shut
down the lines running through the CLIP that is configured with the affected path.)
2. Verify that the WANBoot process is running.
3. Stop the PATH object.
4. Stop the SERVER object.
5. Reconfigure the PATH object with the new IP address.
6. Start the SERVER object. (If you issue the START SERVER, SUB ALL command,
it will start the PATH also.)
7. Start the PATH object.
8. To reconfigure more than one IP address, you would repeat these steps as many
times as necessary.
If you are using your existing configuration forms for the SWAN concentrator you are
updating, update your record of the IP addresses for that SWAN concentrator.
Otherwise, start new configuration forms (For more information, see SWAN
Concentrator (T3880) Configuration-Planning Form on page 4-12 or SWAN 2
Concentrator (T3881) Configuration-Planning Form on page 4-13).
Configuration Guidelines
•
If the SWAN concentrator is on the same network as the host and you are not
using any routers, the IP addresses associated with Ethernet path A must be on
the same subnet as the preferred TCP/IP process. If the SWAN concentrator is
connected using routers then the IP address associated with Ethernet path A must
be on a same subnet as the Gateway IP address. This guideline also applies to
path B.
•
The IP addresses associated with Ethernet path A must be on a different subnet
than the IP addresses associated with Ethernet path B. (This should always be the
