Configuration Guidelines
Configuration Guidelines
•
The preferred and alternate TCP/IP processes that one SWAN concentrator is
configured to use must be configured with separate SUBNETS.
•
If the SWAN concentrator is on the same network as the host and you are not
using any routers, the IP addresses associated with Ethernet path A must be on
the same subnet as the preferred TCP/IP process. If the SWAN concentrator is
connected using routers then the IP address associated with Ethernet path A must
be on a different subnet as the preferred TCP/IP process. The guideline also
applies to Ethernet path B.
•
The IP addresses associated with Ethernet path A must be on the same subnet as
the preferred TCP/IP process. The IP addresses associated with Ethernet path B
must be on the same subnet as the alternate TCP/IP process.
Reconfiguring TCP/IP Processes Example
1. If there are WAN lines started on the SWAN concentrator, shut them down by using
the appropriate data communications subsystem SCF STOP LINE or ABORT LINE
command.
2. Use the SCF INFO PROCESS command to display a list of the names of the
WANBoot and TFTP server processes. Use the SCF STATUS PROCESS
command to determine if the processes are running. (If the WANBoot process is
not running when the SCF ALTER ADAPTER command is executed, the altered
attributes might not take effect.)
3. Use the SCF STOP SERVER, PATH, TASK, and ADAPTER commands to stop the
SWAN concentrator. In Example 3-17, the SCF STOP SERVER command with the
SUB ALL option stops the subordinate TASK and PATH objects.
4. Use the SCF ALTER ADAPTER command to reconfigure the SWAN concentrator
to use the new preferred TCP/IP process.
5. If the new preferred TCP/IP process is on a different subnet than the old preferred
TCP/IP process, then the PATH objects must be reconfigured with new IP
addresses.
Example 3-17. Stopping a SWAN Concentrator
STOP SERVER $ZZWAN.#S01.*, SUB ALL
STOP ADAPTER $ZZWAN.#S01
Example 3-18. Altering a SWAN Concentrator Definition
ALTER ADAPTER $ZZWAN.#S01, &
 TCPIP tcpip-name &
 HOSTIP ip-address
