1.2.2 MULTI-NODE INTERFACE
You may use Web ViewPoint to monitor one or multiple HP NonStop Servers. These Servers may be in an Expand
network, or otherwise in a cluster of individual nodes.
Web ViewPoint tracks these nodes directly, where it knows/remembers the IP address to every node under its
control. A node where a copy of Web ViewPoint is running is called a Resident. A collection of Residents is called a
Neighborhood.
Information retrieved from each resident is then integrated into a single view. This enables users to monitor
multiple environments on one or more Residents of a Neighborhood on one screen. The screen content and layout
is customizable. For instance on Web ViewPoint’s WebDash feature, a user can select to view CPU, Process, Disk,
and Events of more than one Resident also Event’s tab enables user to select & view events of more than one
resident. The user can choose to have CPU information displayed on top, followed by a shared layout between
Process and Disk information, and finally followed by the list of Events. All this is done in a single point and click
operation. More on
Webdash, Events and Neighborhoods & Residents covered later in this document.
Multi-node interface
NODES AND RESIDENTS:
Web ViewPoint Central Router (WCR) is an integrated core function (i.e. WEBVPT5) that allows a user to connect to
any HP NonStop Server/Node under their management from any active Web ViewPoint Window. WCR and
WebDash work together to provide the multi-node user functions within Web ViewPoint.
Following are terms associated with the Central Router.
