CCM greatly simplifies the user interface by replacing complicated command syntax with point and click
actions. Current implementation covers disks & files (both Guardian and OSS), and the spooler subsystem.
1.2 PRODUCT OVERVIEW
1.2.1 HIGH LEVEL ARCHITECTURE
Web ViewPoint is a powerful and extensible web-based application. It has several key components. These can be
classified under the following five groups:
  Web ViewPoint Core (Kernel) Functions
  Web Server Functions
  EMS Event Management Functions
  Performance Management Functions
  Operations/Utility Functions
  WEB VIEWPOINT CORE (KERNEL) FUNCTIONS:
The core functions of Web ViewPoint are primarily to service the user logon/logoff, and service the Performance,
Events, Operations & Admin tabs as well as the various functions on the toolbar. There are extended functions
such as the ‘WVPLite’ functionality (i.e. Event Viewer only) and Central Router (WCR), which is used for multi-node
functionality. Both of these are explained further in subsequent sections of this document.
WEB SERVER FUNCTIONS:
The Web Server is comprised of LISTAPP and PROCMAN. LISTAPP is the TCP/IP listener and PROCMAN is the
process manager. In STRTWVP, when you issue RUN PROCMAN, you are actually starting the Web Server
Functions. The Web Server accepts PARAM TCP-PROCESS and PARAM LISTENER-PROCESS inputs because it needs
to know which TCP process to use and what name shall it assign to the listener process that is created.
EMS EVENT MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS:
The basic functions include Event viewing, queries, displays, sorting, etc. Instant messaging and event notification
are managed by objects SMGR, MSMGR. These are initiated during Web ViewPoint startup and are a part of
STRTWVP. The SMGR object (subscription manager) is responsible for reading EMS events and forwarding them to
the messaging manager (MSMGR). The messaging manager will write these events to the Instant messaging
database files. A utility object WBATCH runs continuously in the background and removes old messages based on a
user configurable retention period. The WBATCH program also has the additional responsibility to remove old
event acknowledgement information from the acknowledgement database files. Starting with ABC-ABD forward
WVP Lite can optionally use the new EMSLINK event viewer EMS interface instead of FDIST.
