Server

Specific Enhancements
Section 5, XA Resource Manager (XARM) for further information about the XA
resource manager.
•
An HP NonStop Server Customization Kit for WebLogic Server containing:
°
A Java XA resource object adapted specifically for the WebLogic Server so
that NonStop server resources can participate in WebLogic Server global
transactions.
°
An XA wrapper to the Java™ Database Connection (JDBC) drivers for the HP
NonStop™ SQL/MX (SQL/MX) database so those drivers can be used in the
WebLogic Server components needing XA-compliant JDBC data sources.
°
Transaction helpers and dummy XA resource objects to be used by the XA
wrappers for the JDBC drivers.
•
Pet Store sample application that works with SQL/MX.
•
Documentation for supporting various software pieces that form the HP NonStop
Server Toolkit for BEA WebLogic Server 7.0 SP1.
Specific Enhancements
•
WebLogic Server clusters use UDP multicast-based communications for cluster
heartbeat monitoring and propagation of the Java Naming and Directory Interface
(JNDI) tree to the members of a cluster. The Parallel Library TCP/IP available in
the G06.20 Release Version Update (RVU) of the HP NonStop Kernel operating
system has been updated to support multicast communications. Refer to parallel
TCP/IP documentation for more information.
•
The WebLogic Server transaction manager coordinates global transactions with
branches contracted to TMF through the Java XA resource object. Since the
WebLogic Server usually accesses only TMF protected resources on the NonStop
server, the WebLogic Server transaction manager’s logging and recovery activities
must be efficient. To this end, the TMF product available in the G06.20 RVU of the
NonStop Kernel operating system has been enhanced to support one-phase
commit optimization for imported branches.
•
SQL/MX software product revision (SPR) 1.8.5 supports non-blocking SQL
operations that work well with the heavily multi-threaded architecture of the
WebLogic Server. SQL/MX 1.8.5 is available in the G06.20 RVU of the NonStop
Kernel operating system. Refer to the NonStop SQL/MX documentation for more
information.
•
The WebLogic Server 7.0 Service Pack 1 is available for the NonStop server. This
version of the WebLogic Server depends on Java 2 Standard Edition Version 1.3.1
Note. Applications using WebLogic Server must use SQL/MX to access NonStop SQL tables.
Access to these tables is not supported for programs using HP NonStop™ SQL/MP (SQL/MP).
For information on the differences between SQL/MX and SQL/MP, see SQL/MX Comparison
Guide for SQL/MP Users.
