NonStop Servers
The Administrative Server, Managed Servers as part of a cluster, Managed Servers
independent of clusters, and Node Manager all run on a single SMP machine. The
threads of all these Java Virtual Machine (JVM) instances can be scheduled on all the
available processors (see Figure 1-2).
Fault tolerance is not built into these systems. Loss of a processor can bring down the
whole system along with all the instances running on the machine. Until the transaction
logs and other critical components are recovered on a configured backup system,
significant application outages can occur.
The same domain when deployed on a NonStop server (without any specific direction
from the WebLogic Server domain administrator) can be deployed transparently:
