Event Messages
Event Messages
In addition to sending commands and receiving responses, a management application
can obtain notification of events that occur in the X25AM subsystem. This notification is
in the form of event messages that are issued by the X25AM subsystem. An event
message describes an event such as a hardware or software error or the completion of
an operation. Your application could monitor these event messages to handle
unexpected situations or to keep track of the current status of the system and the
network.
The event messages that can be issued by the X25AM subsystem are described in
Section 7, Event Management.
Prerequisite Manuals
This manual provides subsystem-specific information about using the programmatic
control-and-inquiry interface to communicate with the X25AM subsystem and about the
event messages generated by the X25AM subsystem. To use the material in this
manual, you must be familiar with the information provided in these manuals:
•
The SPI Programming Manual, describes the Subsystem Programmatic Interface
(SPI), which is used for management programming of HP subsystems. SPI
provides a set of procedure calls and a set of definition files to be used in
management programs.
•
The EMS Manual, which contains information about obtaining event messages,
defining filters, and so on.
•
The SPI Common Extensions Manual, describes a common set of extensions to
the basic SPI. This common interface includes the Subsystem Control Point (SCP)
process and a set of common data, event, and error definitions (ZCOM and
ZCMK).
