D-Series Supplement for X25AM
This appendix provides an overview of how the X25AM subsystem has been adapted
to work with the system running D-Series RVUs.Topics covered in this section include:
The impact of this adaptation is as follows:
•
No new functionality has been introduced to this subsystem other than its ability to
run at a high PIN in a D-series system.
•
This capability to run at a high PIN makes more low PINs available for user
application processes.
For additional information on high PINs, low PINs, and advantages of the D-series
operating system, refer to the Introduction to D-Series Systems manual.
File-System Procedures
The D-series operating system has many new procedure calls. This section lists only
those procedures that are relevant for the X25AM subsystem. You must use the new
file-system procedures for the following purposes:
You must use the new file-system procedures for the following purposes:
•
To open a remote device (on another system running D-series RVUs) having a
name with the format $<seven characters>.
•
To open a remote process (on another system running D-series RVUs) having a
name with the format $<five characters>.
An application can still use the old file-system procedures if it is not necessary to open
remote devices or processes using the longer name formats.
When to Use the New Procedures
You can use the D-series procedures for any systems running D-series RVUs, whether
