Chapter 4. Common Screen Functions
XYPRO Technology Corporation 82 Proprietary and Confidential
Sleep Interval – The sleep interval is the time between host polling sessions. In a
production environment, this should be set to a longer interval, such as 6 hours, to
reduce the traffic between the PC and the NonStop server.
Service Process Logon – You can define a special logon for the Service Process.
This logon must be able to logon to all connection nodes. This logon is only used to
make the connections. The host XSW application is run as the PROGID’d
user/owner. You can also default to the XSW current user logon.
Install the xswServicesw.exe process on this PC. By clicking Install, a
configuration pop-up will inform you that the Service Process will restart every time
the PC restarts. This ensures that the Service Process is always running.
From this point on, the xswServicesw process will download any collection it finds
ready on the NonStop server hosts configured for this XSW installation.
Uninstall the xswServicesw process. Individual users can be uninstalled
separately.
When you re-display the Tools/Manage Service Process, the Service User validity
is checked. If the password needs updating or the user cannot logon to all nodes,
you will be notified.
To update any of these values, change the value and click Update. If the Service
Process is currently stopped, you can update and restart it by clicking Restart.
Note: The Service user logon, if selected, must be able to logon to all connection
nodes that the Service Process will logon to. Also, if RSA is in play, this user
should not be set up for RSA authentications, as the Service Process is not a
MS Windows application and has no method to authenticate the RSA key. The
logon and password is authenticated each time you add a user or enter this
window, and you will get a message if the password or logon fails. If this is
logging onto ten nodes, then it checks each node which can take a few minutes.
Note: If the XSW service process is installed and running, the service process must be
successfully stopped and uninstalled prior to running an XSW upgrade or
uninstalling the XSW product. This can be done by using the Tools > Manage
Service Process form.
