Hashing should be restricted to just those files that your security policy requires
to be checked for changes. Hashing should not be set for all files. The priority of
the hashing process should be set in the SWCONF file (Appendix A15:
page 233) to be below that of production applications.
5.3.1 Selecting Guardian Files for Hashing
This section describes the procedure for selecting Guardian files for hashing using the
screen shown above (page 100).
Select the Guardian Files tab to display the files to be hashed.
Click the box to expand the desired \node on the tree.
Expand the Hashing Algorithm attribute on the tree and select one of the offered
algorithms (MD5 for example).
Note: The hashing algorithm is selected by node. The same hashing algorithm is
used for both Guardian Files and OSS Files for a particular node.
Expand a desired volume to display the existing subvolumes in the tree.
Right-clicking on a volume itself displays a
context menu that offers a Check All or
Uncheck All feature. This will automatically
check or uncheck all check boxes for that
volume and subvolume only.
If the No Prompt feature is selected, then
subsequent Check All or Uncheck All
features will be performed without being
prompted for each selection.
A similar Collapse All or Expand All
feature is offered. And a similar context
menu is also available at the \node level.
Clicking Check All displays the following prompt asking you to perform the action.
