5.6 Creating a Primary Collection with Merged Secondary
A primary collection with merged secondary collections is used when there are multiple
host connections in XSW and there is a need to do queries or policy analysis on the
combined information across the multiple nodes. Typically, this occurs only in networks
where there is no EXPAND link between systems for which data needs to be collected.
5.6.1 Primary Node
1. One host connection node, called the primary node, will be the point where all the
data will be combined together.
2. Right-click on the Collections Specifications heading in the left pane, select
Collection Setup and Status, and then select the Host Connection tab.
3. Logon to the NonStop server host that will be the primary node.
4. Select the Setup Criteria tab.
5. Specify a new name for the collection. Make a note of the name, because the
identical name will have to be used for each secondary collection.
6. Check the appropriate entities on the Resource Selection tab. Make a note of
those entities because you will have to check the same set when you create the
subordinate collections.
7. Select the Collection Run-time Options tab.
8. Set the Merged Status to Primary.
9. Set the Collection Type.
10. Set the Batch Setup Parameters if you selected Batch as your Collection Type.
11. Select the Advanced Loading Selections tab.
12. Enable the features you want for this collection. Make a note of which features you
enable because you will have to check the same set when you create the
subordinate collections.
13. Click Save to save this collection.
14. If you want an immediate collection or want to submit it to NetBatch immediately,
click Initiate.
15. Disconnect from this node by clicking Disconnect.
