Chapter 5. Collection Specifications
XYPRO Technology Corporation 115 Proprietary and Confidential
Select a collection in the Status drop-down list. The details will be displayed in the
grid (item 7) below.
View the grid for the details of the collection. You will see the Host_Status for each
entity and can determine which entity received an error, if any. All entities must be
completed before you can load the collection.
5.7.1 Understanding Host Collection Errors
Collections with errors can be downloaded when finished, but the collection may be
missing the data. Determining if this is pertinent or not pertinent to the collection may
require some evaluation. For instance, if a disk volume is off-line, the collection of that
volume would create an error, but this might not be pertinent to the overall collection. If
collecting the User information incurred an error, this type of error would negate the
collection.
Errors can occur for many reasons: security issues, resource accessibility, hardware
failures, Expand or network failures, invalid XSW installation issues, etc. The XSW
error handling is designed to help you and the support staff identify the problem and
resolve it.
The host collection spawns many processes on one or more nodes. Since the host
jobs can be run by batch processing, it is not feasible to send collection details of the
errors back to the GUI.
5.7.2 Checking the Host Status
Entities that incur errors on the host are displayed in the Collection Status tab as you
review the list of objects that have been collected. This will be visible from the Status
tab if you select the collection details. The Host Status column will be set to Error.
If you scroll the grid to the right, each entity has been assigned a Host Seq No. This
number will be used to locate the error file containing the error on the host. The
number sequences shown in the column Completion Status are the errors returned
from the TACL or function. The entity name in the grid will identify which part had an
error.
