5.8.2 Automatically Initiated
If you use the xswService service process to manage the initiation of downloads, the
download will be started the next time the service process check cycle is started. If you
set the cycle for every three hours, for example, then the xswService process will
check for a collection on the host(s) after every three hours. If a collection is found and
it is ready to download, it will be downloaded. If a collection is not yet ready to
download, the xswService process will check again every five minutes until the
collection is ready and then it will be downloaded. Once all collections have been
downloaded, the xswService Process will return to the every three-hour cycle.
When the xswService service process starts the xswLoader program, it (xswLoader)
runs in the background and never appears on your screen or in your taskbar.
If you have the xswService process configured, you can still click Start Load to
download the collection manually before the xswService process has awakened.
5.8.3 Refreshing the Treeview
After a download is complete, the new collection is available, and the status of the
policies connected to the collection have been updated. These changes will not be
visible until you click Refresh Tree on the XSW GUI toolbar or the GUI is restarted.
5.8.4 Downloading the Primary and Secondary Collections
If you are using the Merged collection method for multiple nodes, the primary collection
must always be downloaded first. If you are using the xswService process, the
collections will be downloaded in the proper order. If you are manually loading the
collections to your PC, you must download the primary collection first, then disconnect
from the primary node. Connect to the first secondary node and download it. Download
each secondary collection. The load process will merge the collections into one
complete collection.
