Chapter 6. Data Discovery Rules
XYPRO Technology Corporation 129 Proprietary and Confidential
Select an item from the Attribute List.
Complete the appropriate attribute values, if there are any.
You can repeat items 6 and 7 to build a list of multiple attributes to check. Note that
these attributes are combined using AND not OR. If you need OR, you must
highlight the AND in the Rule Selection Criteria box and type OR to replace the
AND.
Click Save to save the query.
To use this new rule, click Apply.
6.3 The Predicate as the Rule Selection Criteria
The predicate is the combination of entity attributes and attribute values that are the
basis of the query. The predicate is applied to a collection dataset to select rows from
that dataset that meet the value attributes in the predicate. The rows that are selected
are displayed as the results for the basic query.
On this screen there are buttons at the bottom that control the format of your predicate.
Clear Last Remove the most recently specified attribute and attribute value.
Clear All Remove the entire query.
Test Query Execute the query against the default collection, which was
specified in the User Preferences screen (item 6 on page 45),
returning only the first five rows.
View Syntax Show the actual SQL query syntax generated.
Advanced Switch to a mode where the actual data column names are
displayed and a free-form box is available to enter your own SQL
queries. Please note that the SQL language supported does not
permit joins of any sort.
6.3.1 Applying the Rule Selection Criteria to a Collection
When you click Apply, the rule selection criteria will be used to select a specific set of
data that matches the criteria.
The query will apply the rule to the currently defined default collection. If you have the
user’s preferences set up to use the Most Recent collection (item 3 on page 45), the
default will normally be set to the most recent collection.
