Chapter 8. Best Practice Policy

Select a value for Part 3 from the drop-down list or enter a new value. This value
will be used as a part of the sorting criteria for the Best Practice display in the left
pane.
Select a sequence number for Part 4 from the drop-down list. Note that parts 1, 2,
3 and 4 make up a sequence number. This sequence number does not need to be
unique. It is for sorting Best Practices into logical groupings and can be repeated
for Best Practices that should be displayed together.
Select an entity from the drop-down list. The selection of the entity may alter the
input to subsequent fields. This is done automatically when you select the entity
type.
If the entity requires it, the Object Type drop-down will be enabled. Select the
appropriate object type.
Select a category from the drop-down list or enter a new value. This is strictly a
sorting criteria for grouping rules.
Select a sub-system from the drop-down list or enter a new value. This is strictly a
sorting criteria for grouping rules.
Enter a free form reference that will be displayed as part of the Best Practice
reports.
Select a condition to check from the drop-down list. These conditions are limited by
the selection made in the Entity Selection and Object Type drop-down lists.
Add the name of the object to check. The object name format is controlled by the
selection made in the Entity Selection and Object Type drop-down lists.
Select a value for the condition or enter the comparison value.
Add a brief description that will be displayed as part of the Best Practice reports.
Add a custom comment for your own internal records, such as source materials or
policy specifications.
Click Add. If you made any errors or left out required information, a small white
exclamation mark will flash to indicate where.
After this Best Practice has been used, you can switch to the Log Entries tab to see
the details of its use over time.
Other buttons on the right side of this screen allow additional manipulation of the data.
